You know those days where you wake in a panic and the climate crisis is just there in your face EVERYWHERE you look. I’m talking about that feeling when a ton of bricks hits your psyche and you’re like ‘Jesus fucking Christ the world is fucked’ kind of panic.

I’m having one of those days.

Climate catastrophe is happening right in front of us. Not just one, or two, or even three events, but multiple. News headlines are so ridiculous, it’s like something out of an end of the world movie… but then you take a second to think about it and the notion that we are living that end-of-humanity scenario is mind-bending.

Here’s the fucking ridiculous but VERY real climate catastrophes happening in the world so far this year:

🔥Fires burning through through the Amazon and The Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland. An estimated 7,861 sq miles of the wet lands have burned since January 2020.

🔥🌪Firenadoes across California, USA. Honestly, these sound like a really terrible movie, akin with 🦈 shark-nado. But they are a real thing. Also, there are record fires across the whole west coast of the USA, through California, Oregon, and Washington state.

💧🌊Bangladesh and India have experienced flooding so bad that 1.5 million people have been displaced, with over 1000 dead.

💀🌡Death Valley, USA, reached one of the hottest recorded temperatures on earth, 55c. That’s closer to boiling point than we’ve ever been. Far to close for comfort. I’ve been to Death Valley, the heat is literally lip splitting, and I was there on a *cooler* day.

🏝🛢Mauritius is, again literally, drowning in oil thanks to a tanker that split in half.

❄️❄️Canada’s last Arctic ice shelf broke apart and Greenland is losing ice faster this century than any previous one in last 12,000 years.

🦗🌾A plague of locusts in Africa ate nearly all the grain crops.

💧🧑‍🔬Mirco and nano plastics are being found in soil, water, snow, air, animals, and human organs.

😷🦠Oh yeah… and the world has been living in a pandemic for most of 2020, & those in power want us to act live it’s normal?!

How can anyone look at this list and not have an emotional blackout from over panic?

& underneath that burst of panic, is anger (for me at least), anger that we’re seeing so many headlines that detail events pointing in one direction (climate catastrophe) yet the headlines are pointing everywhere but that direction & world leaders are doing what exactly?

Someone tell me because I don’t fucking know. 🤷‍♀️😤🤬
